Quiet.Eye.Art - New YorkNew York
New York began 2020 at full speed. Then came the virus. In the stillness, I broke the city into fragments, streets rendered as mosaics, graphics flattened into abstraction. Subway tiles. The grid made strange.
Then the park: trees curving upward against the hard geometry of everything else, organic lines holding their ground. March dissolved into April. April stretched. My mind lost track of where this work began. My eye kept going.
Tracing shadows down near-empty streets. Recording a city so thoroughly altered it felt newly invented. Assembling the pieces. Dividing the spaces. Finding something like grace in the arc of a shadow.
